Huckabee is looking out for Obama

Note: this post is a vast improvement on the lengthy perseveration that was entitled "Private citizen or public official? And, why did prayer matter?" Chalk that one up to a gloomy overcast day. It's probably out there in a Google cache somewhere for anyone who wants to watch a slow-motion train-wreck.

Amidst speculation that Barack Obama's failure to wear the obligatory flag lapel-pin might hurt him politically, leave it to Mike Huckabee to be concerned about Obama's physical well-being.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee says Sen. Barack Obama has a good reason for not wearing a pin with an American flag on it. Since Obama is seen bare-chested in photos so often, pinning himself "could be very painful," Huckabee said.

Huckabee correctly noted that there are more important issues in the presidential campaign than what lapel pin someone wears.

Huckabee, running for the Republican presidential nomination, is known for his sense of humor on the campaign trail, and he used it to make light of the national brouhaha over Obama's pinless lapel during campaign appearances in the nation's capital on Friday.

Of course, Huckabee would say that, wouldn't he? After all, he doesn't wear an American flag lapel pin himself. We always knew that there was something just a little un-American about that guy.
