Most polls are still showing Fred Thompson in a solid 2nd place in the national polls. The Rasmussen weekly polls, however, have shown a stronger trend toward Thompson. For the third week in a row, Thompson has been out front, most recently 27% - 24% over Rudy Guiliani. This is just inside the margin of error.
There have been concerning signs that Thompson isn't as sharp on the campaign trail as we would hope. He will have to be a fast learner, or he will fall as sharply as he has risen.
