Raises the question: What on earth was he thinking?

Kind of dovetails with powerline's earlier description of Huckabee's vision on foreign policy as a "Sunday School" approach to dealing with international trouble spots.

Doesn't sound like a winning record/approach for a GOP primary.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7592841981416728347.post-65906719346012674252007-12-09T13:27:00.000-07:002007-12-09T13:27:00.000-07:00I think McCain wants to be president badly enough ...I think McCain wants to be president badly enough that given this second breath of life, he'll strengthen his immigration position.

He was surprised -- as was all of Washington -- at the vehemnence of the response on the issue. And not just amongst Republicans.

Huckabee may be too inexperienced to be a good president -- but he would be the ideal VP for any of the candidates, excepting perhaps Romney, who by that point will have attacked Huckabee too harshly to be able to team up with him.

Huckabee is also young -- the only candidate in the entire field younger than Huckabee is Obama. And his style is one that is much more suited to the politics of the future -- today's young people are idealists about certain issues, both left and right, but they tend to be turned off by the hyper-partisan blue state/red state type divides.Montana Headlineshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16149094528547382638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7592841981416728347.post-88650248716542749222007-12-07T22:37:00.000-07:002007-12-07T22:37:00.000-07:00Interesting analysis. Over at the Powerline blog, they take an interesting look at his foreign policy ideas--and find them pretty wanting. Basically, he sounds like he his philosophy is "can't we all just get along?"

That won't play very well in the primary once voters become aware of his ideas.

Anyway, it's another argument for your McCain theory.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7592841981416728347.post-53445646723406401592007-12-06T06:36:00.000-07:002007-12-06T06:36:00.000-07:00Yup, let's talk. Simple enforcement and the tanking housing industry are taking care of the problem, and he just has to stay on board and not try to intervene.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
