Bear polling numbers

Environmentalist groups are filing suit to prevent the scheduled removal of the grizzly bear from the list of endangered species.

In doing so, they are having to change the rules in mid-stream. The impending delisting of grizzly bears and wolves has hardly been a secret. Those who oppose delisting them have had ample time to pursue democratic means to achieve the definitions they want.

Romney, polling, and Montana

In the comments to our last post, a Romney supporter unhappily replied, wondering what we Montanans want if we don't (as Montana Headlines postulates) want Romney as our Presidential nominee.

Well, apparently, if Montanans don't prefer Romney, they are in good company nationally amongst Republicans. Take a look at the RealClearPolitics composite national polls. The average of 6 major polls reveals that Romney is in 4th place, behind Guiliani, McCain, and Fred Thompson.

This is in spite of Romney having raised huge amounts of money from his fundraising sources, and greatly outspent the other candidates. Thompson is leading Romney in 4 polls and is tied in one without having spent a dime.

Romney even trails another undeclared candidate, Newt Gingrich, in one of the 6 polls and is tied with Gingrich in another.

So Romney isn't lighting any fires -- the only difference in Montana is that being a more conservative state than most, the order of voting would likely be Thompson, Romney, Guiliani.

Not that it matters -- Montanans have little or nothing to say about who gets the nomination.
